| Areas of expertise |
Our work focusses on the pathophysiology of atherosclerotic plaque rupture, primarily using a unique mouse model that we have developed. We are currently investigating the involvement of matrix metalloproteinases and other proteolytic enzymes in plaque disruption and healing; the effects of drugs in clinical use on plaque stability; and novel pathways of plaque destabilisation identified as part of a large-scale genomic and proteomic analysis of unstable murine plaques.
