Jointly edited an edition of the School Science Review on biodiversity (March 2010). This involved commissioning and editing key papers and writing the lead article for the journal. This is the main science peer reviewed journal for UK science teachers.

Areas of expertise Biography

I have taught Biology, Psychology and ICT in a range of secondary schools, most recently at Clifton College, Bristol, where I was Head of Science. I am the author and co-author of a number of important textbooks for secondary Biology teaching, often in collaboration with the Nuffield Curriculum Trust. I joined the Graduate School in September 2008 as the senior biologist on the Science PGCE course. I am currently co-ordinating the PGCE Science course with sixty students.

SPINE project, looking at the impact of the national Form II biology examination on the people of Zanzibar.

S-TEAM project. Working with Sibel Erduran to develop argumentation as a support for 'How Science Works.
