Areas of expertise I am a research assistant working on the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) funded project: Best Interests Decisions Study (BIDS). The BIDS study aims to gain information and understanding about how best interests decisions are being made.

In addition, I am working in collaboration with the Mental Health Foundation on a School for Social Care Research funded project that aims to explore how direct payments are being administered for people who lack capacity.

I originally joined the centre in 2006 as a full-time PhD student. I completed a thesis titled: Who decides? Decision making by people with learning disabilities under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, a collaborative partnership with the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities in 2011.
