My research is concerned with understanding how evolution has shaped the morphology and behaviour of animals.
I use experiments, comparative analysis, and computer modelling to study how animals make decisions, why they make the choices they do, and how they are constrained in their options by their limitations.
I am especially interested in the influence of predators on the behaviour of prey, such as caterpillars and bees, and the knock-on effects on plants.
I currently work on foraging and fat storage strategies, with a view to understanding the causes of obesity.
