| Areas of expertise |
My area of expertise regards Pakistani migration in all its forms, from the migration decision process to the predicaments of settlement and the life of second and third generations especially in the UK.
I have studied questions of crime and crime prevention among Bradford Pakistanis, and at the moment I am focusing on transnational identities and how people navigate their family histories and expectations by matching those with other aspects of their selves that have been nurtured in Europe.
I also work on the politics of Bollywood with special attention to the representation of Muslims and the reading of terrorist and anti-terrorist practices.
I have written about social movements, popular culture and media in Pakistan 1999-2010 with particular attention to the Musharraf years.
