My interests are interdisciplinary and focus chiefly on late medieval English culture, particularly theatre and drama.
I have co-edited editions of both the York and Coventry mystery plays, and written numerous articles and a forthcoming monograph on civic religious drama.
I publish on European civic and confraternal festivals more generally, from Spanish feast of the Assumption of the Virgin to Shetland's Viking festival, 'Up Helly Aa'.
I also write about medieval tomb sculpture, manuscripts and poetry.
