In order to complete the PG Cert / PG Dip or MSc you need to apply for a place on the programme. There are normally three entry points each year in September, January and April/May.
We have produced an Application Flow Chart (pdf, 434kb) to help you follow the process required to apply to the programme.
Deadline for application to the April 2012 intake is Friday 16th March 2012 .
There is continued strong demand for places on the programme with application entry points becoming quickly oversubscribed. Please be aware that you may be asked to defer your place by one or more terms if the term for which you have applied is already full. In reality this only means a relatively short delay of about 3-4 months (instead of a year as with many programmes with perhaps only one intake a year!).
The online application provides the basis of your application but there are some other documents to submit and two references are required. Please follow the instrtuctions in the online application carefully and complete and upload the forms it asks for. Accepting your offer letter secures the offer of a place, but please note that the TLHP office may need to defer or even cancel a place if the required documentation is not submitted on time so that someone else can benefit from a place in that intake.
Students/sponsors are liable for fees at the time of booking and attending each module. Re-sitting modules incurs additional fees. Students withdrawing from the programme or cancelling a module are still liable for fees as indicated on a sliding scale of payments sent out with offer letters.
IMPORTANT: You need to apply online, also completing all the other essential and relevant forms on this page and submitting these via the online application form. Please start the online form first and try to upload all additional documentation into this. In all correspondence with the TLHP Office, Faculty Office or University of Bristol, please quote the unique APPLICANT NUMBER given you by the online system and/or the email address you gave in your application.
a) Evidence of qualifications - we need to see the ORIGINAL certificates but these should NOT be sent through the post. Please do one of the following
This verification can, if necessary, be done at a later date but MUST be done before the application deadline. You need to send at least the photocopies initially.
b) CV or details of recent principal appointments, teaching responsibilities/interests, etc.
Please note that WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAPER APPLICATIONS. Forms must be completed and uploaded into the online application form as instructed by the software.
You can find this within the online application system - it is for information specific to TLHP applicants. .
The online system can contact your referees for you after you provide an email address for them. Make sure your referees are happy to complete an online reference!
Guidance on choice of referees: Referees need to be someone of a more senior grade than yourself who has known you for at least 4 months and can comment on your academic ability, teaching role and/or aspirations and your suitability for the TLHP Programme. If English is not your first language, they need to comment on the standard of your written and spoken English. They may be someone already on the TLHP Programme but should not be someone who is concurrently applying for a place on the Programme.
It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that their referees upload their references into the online application system or send these to the TLHP Office
Where you are arranging payment of your tuition fees by a sponsoring organisation, there is a: "Sponsorship Authorisation form". Please get this completed and send with your application if you have a sponsor willing to fund part or all of your tuition fees.
Upload into Online Application or arrange for Sponsor to send to the TLHP Office

It is a PREREQUISITE for applicants to TLHP that they own or have regular access to a personal computer (PC) and they are reasonably confident in using this to access the Internet, send and receive emails (incluing emails with attatchments), and word processing. Full details can be found in the "ICT Guide for the TLHP Programme", but the following should provide most of the important points. Essentially it should not be necessary to have much greater working knowledge of PC use than would be normal for most jobs nowadays. Nonetheless we should stress that use of IT is a key support mode for the Programme. To give you an idea of the minimum standards required, see the syllabus for the European / International Computer Driving Licence (ECDL/ICDL). For the Certificate you will need to be reasonably confident in the majority of elements of Modules 1,2, 3, 6 and 7. For the Diploma/MSc you will may additionally require competences in Modules 4 and 5.
