A leading international expert on sustainable development is to give a free public lecture at Bristol University.

Dr Fiona Crofton, Chief Executive of the ORCAD Consulting Group in Vancouver and President of the EcoDesign Resource Society, will explore what sustainable development means and how it can be achieved.

The event starts at 1pm on Wednesday, March 6 and will be followed by a discussion. Professor Vala Ragnarsdottir, one of the organisers of the event, said: "Dr Crofton has a formidable reputation as a catalyst for change. I'm sure her talk will challenge both the University and the wider community to work harder and smarter at safeguarding the future of our environment."

The lecture will take place at Royal Fort House in Tyndall Avenue, Clifton. Admission is free, but space is limited. To book in advance, telephone Bristol 954 5432 or email Vala.Ragnarsdottir@bris.ac.uk

The event is promoted by the University's Sustainable Futures Group and the Institute for Advanced Studies.
