UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL
Raising and giving

Local voluntary and community groups have until March 1 to apply for grants from the University of Bristol RAG (Raising and Giving) Fund.

Applications, via the Greater Bristol Foundation, are welcome from projects or charities whose work focuses on children, homelessness, medical projects and the elderly.

In 2001 over £8,000 was distributed through the fund. The maximum amount organisations can apply for is £1,000.

Grants awarded in previous years include:

  • running costs for a local support group for people with Parkinson's disease;

  • equipment for use on a scout camp;

  • day trips for disabled children and their carers;

  • a weekend away for a group of children who have cancer;

  • support for homeless families moving into new accommodation.

Alex Durbidge, RAG Officer, said: "RAG is a charity fundraising organisation run entirely by students.

"The greatest thing about RAG is that every penny raised by the volunteers makes a difference."

For an application form contact the Greater Bristol Foundation on Bristol 989 7700 or email info@gbf.org.uk
