A delegation from the Chinese city of Guangzhou visited the University of Bristol as part of a tour of the city organised by the Bristol China Partnership.

The group, which included the city's vice mayor, toured the university's technical facilities including BLADE - Europe's most advanced testing facility.

The dean of the engineering faculty Professor David Muir Wood welcomed the delegates before touring the various departments in the faculty.

The Bristol China Partnership was founded in 1998 after a group of local Chinese people and Bristol City Councillors expressed a desire to develop closer links with the people of China.

The key objectives of the BCP are to develop friendship, business, education, culture, sports and tourist links with China.

Among the delegates will be representatives from sport, health, education and local government in the city, which is the capital of Guangdong province close to Hong Kong.
