Deaf Studies resource featured in Time magazine
8 May 2007
The University’s Centre for Deaf Studies featured in the Asia edition of Time magazine for its development of the world’s first video sign-language dictionary for mobile phones.
Mobilesign has its origins in a 2001 EC-funded project called WISDOM (Wireless information service for deaf people on the move), in which the Centre for Deaf Studies was a partner.

Mobilesign has also been featured in an online magazine produced by the Science Museum at www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/antenna/hearingresearch/. In addition, See Hear, the BBC’s magazine programme for deaf and hard of hearing people, will be broadcasting a demonstration of Mobilesign and an interview with Professor Jim Kyle on 26 May.
