The University’s Technical Advisory Service for Images ( TASI) is holding several workshops for staff in the next few weeks.

TASI provides advice and training on digital images, from using a digital SLR and Photoshop to building an image collection. As a service funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee, TASI supports staff within FE and HE institutions and provides a free helpdesk service

TASI runs regular workshops and courses. The following workshops are coming up soon:

Image Capture – Level 3
To develop an advanced theoretical understanding of capturing digital images by undertaking practical exercises.
14 November 2007

Introduction to Image Metadata
To introduce the issues involved in creating metadata for image collections, through explanation, discussion and practical activities.
15 November 2007

Image Optimisation – Correcting and Preparing Images
To introduce skills required for correcting digital images and preparing them for future use. This workshop will show suitable techniques and warn against those that can degrade image quality.
23 November 2007

Building a Departmental Image Collection
To provide an overview of the key things to consider in creating, managing and delivering an image collection for those wishing to build simple image collections, especially academics, librarians or technicians building a departmental resource. 
30 November 2007
