Academics sought to participate in summer schools
5 February 2008
The Widening Participation and Undergraduate Recruitment Office is looking for academics to run sessions at its 2008 residential summer schools.
The summer schools are a fantastic opportunity for students from underrepresented groups across the UK to access the world-class facilities at the University. They aim to encourage young people to think about higher education, and Bristol in particular, as an option once they finish school or college.
In order to run the summer schools, the Widening Participation Office is dependent on academic staff to inspire young people to consider studying their subjects. It is therefore looking for willing academics to deliver hour-long sessions to the students during the week. Previous summer schools have attracted enthusiastic, engaged and energetic young people from all walks of life, and feedback from academics in the past has always highlighted the event as an extremely rewarding experience.
If you are interested in participating and feel you can deliver an exciting session suitable for teenagers, please contact Doug Jennings, Outreach and Summer Schools Officer, email firstname.lastname@example.org, tel 0117 928 8862.
