Phil joined the Finance Office as an Accounts Assistant on 1 August 1986. He was very friendly from the start and was noted for his beautiful handwriting. He was not there long before a vacancy occurred for Chief Cashier in the Finance Office. Phil applied for the job and was appointed.

This was the position he held until his retirement on 31 July 2005. He integrated very well with the ladies of the Cashiers Office and took great interest in their families. He also had a caring attitude towards the students with their financial problems.

He was a member of the Finance skittles team (Crawford Crackers) for many years and proved to be a very good player; they won under his leadership. He was also a volunteer for the Samaritans for many years.

After he retired, unfortunately he became ill and died of a brain haemorrhage on 18 September this year.

Phil is missed and will continue to be so by all his friends and ex-colleagues.
