Honorary degrees awarded [17 February]

Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to Mr Mike Peirce, Chief Executive, The Southmead Project and Professor Patricia Broadfoot, Vice-Chancellor, University of Gloucestershire, at today’s degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building [Wednesday 17 February].
Mr Mike Peirce, Chief Executive, The Southmead Project, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws at the 11.15 am ceremony. The orator for the ceremony is Professor Kim Etherington in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Bristol.
Professor Patricia Broadfoot, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Gloucestershire and former Dean of Social Sciences and Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bristol, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws at the 2.30 pm ceremony. The orator for the ceremony is Rosamund Sutherland, Professor of Education in the University’s Graduate School of Education.
An honorary degree is a major accolade, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with the University’s mission.
