Phil Marshall started work at the University as a part-time cleaner in September 1991 and soon became a really important member of the Site Services cleaning team.

During Phil’s 15 years of service he worked at a number of our student properties, but the majority of his time was spent in the Social Science Complex.

Phil was a very well-liked member of the team and was always keen to help others; he ran a very successful Christmas club for his team mates for many years.

Phil had a very positive attitude to life and was always chirpy and upbeat, definitely a ‘glass half-full’ person. Phil retired in July 2006 and was looking forward to spending more time on his hobbies of fishing and painting.

Phil passed away suddenly on 27 October 2010; our condolences have been passed onto his wife Anne.
