Students invited to have their say

24 January 2012

Students at the University of Bristol are being given the opportunity to have their say about how the Students’ Union is run and what issues they should be tackling.

The deadline for the submission of motions is Monday [30 January] and gives all students the chance to play a vital role in shaping the Union and its policies.

Motions will be debated and voted on during the Annual General Meeting, which takes place on 9 February at 2pm in the Anson Rooms.

Undergraduate teaching is suspended for the afternoon to allow as many students as possible to take part in the AGM – a key date in the Union’s calendar.

Previous topics for debate included the possibility of 24-hour libraries; improving the student experience; supporting widening participation at the University of Bristol; student satisfaction feedback through student representatives; consistency in naming student clubs and societies; and recognition of hidden course costs.

Students can vote on the day for the motions of their choice and motions are only passed if they receive enough votes. For more information on how to submit a motion please go to www.ubu.org.uk/voice
