Jacques Delors to address the future of the European Union
Press release issued: 26 March 2012
Jacques Delors, the former President of the European Commission and Founding President of Notre Europe, will give a special lecture to mark the 50th anniversary of one of the most influential publications in the field of EU research.
The Journal of Common Market Studies (JCMS), co-edited by Professor of European Politics, Michelle Cini from the University of Bristol’s School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies, provides the most up-to-date and authoritative source of information for those teaching, researching or interested in the EU.
To mark the journal's 50th anniversary and commitment to the understanding of European integration, the lecture entitled ‘Economic Goverance in the European Union: Past, Present and Future' by French economist and politician, Jacques Delors, will take place just before the French elections on Monday 16 April 2012 in Paris.
Professor Cini from the University of Bristol said: “For 50 years the journal has been the catalyst for the development and evaluation of theoretical and empirical issues in the politics and economics of European integration, focusing principally on developments within the EU. We are therefore delighted that Jacques Delors has agreed to give this lecture to help us mark such a momentous occasion.”
The event will take place at the Amphithéatre Chapsal, 27 rue St-Guillaume in Paris on Monday 16 April 2012 from 5 pm to 7 pm and will be introduced by the JCMS editors, Professors Amy Verdun and Michelle Cini, and chaired by Professor Renaud Dehousse, Director of the Centre d'études européennes de Sciences Po, Paris, who are hosting the lecture.
The allocation of tickets is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to attend you can register at the Sciences Po website.
