Research led by University of Bristol academics into materials that repair themselves is featured in an article about self-healing properties published by the BBC today [30 October].

The article, which includes an interview with Professor Ian Bond from the Department of Aerospace Engineering, discusses restoring optical clarity to smartphone screens and a feasibility MOD (Ministry of Defence) and DSTL (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory)-funded study into healing cracks in bullet-proof glass.

Professor Bond, Dr Richard Trask and Dr Chris Norris undertook this work within the Multifunctional Composites Group within the Advanced Composites Centre for Innovation and Science in the Department of Aerospace Engineering"
