The award, sponsored by The Higher Education Academy, recognises universities that are dedicated to high-quality teaching, including innovation in teaching and learning methods and introduction of technology in teaching.

Bristol’s eBiolabs and ChemLabS have been shortlisted for their innovative web-based, fully interactive Dynamic Laboratory Manual (DLM), which contains video and virtual instrumentation and equipment, as well as inbuilt pre- and in-laboratory e-assessment.

The other universities shortlisted in this category are the London School of Economics and Political Science for its LSE 100 course and Plymouth University for its ebook project.

The winner will be announced at the Guardian University Awards on 27 February 2013 and online on the Higher Education Network.
