A picture of health – what does good health and wellbeing look like?

4 February 2013

Students and staff at the University of Bristol are being invited to capture the essence of healthy living on camera for a new competition.

The Picture of Health initiative has been launched to get people thinking about what health and wellbeing means to them during February.

Up for grabs is a brand new Olympus SZ-14 camera, with runners-up receiving vouchers for photography courses, healthy activities and veg boxes.

John Wilford, Healthy Lifestyle Manager at the University of Bristol, said: “Healthy living certainly isn’t just about fruit and fitness. We hope the competition will get people thinking about what healthy living looks or feels like to them, whether it’s a place, activity or mood.

“Technical ability or advanced technology is not essential as images from all standards of camera will be accepted – from phone and simple point and shoot, to digital SLRs or disposable cameras.”

The deadline for entries is 1 March and images can be submitted online via email, disk or printed version.  An online gallery will be maintained on Flickr and Facebook.

Entries will be judged by a panel drawn from various staff and student groups. The winners and runners up will have their images displayed at the University.

Further details and entry information can be found on the University's website or by emailing John Wilford on pejfw@bristol.ac.uk.
