Ann Hulley, 1966-2013

23 July 2013

Ann Hulley, a cleaner based in Senate House, died in July. Liz Lynch, Site Services Manager, offers a tribute.

Ann Hulley first joined Site Services as a part-time cleaner, based in Senate House, in September 2002.

In 2004 Ann moved to a cleaning role in Student Houses and spent a year working at 115 Queens Road.

In 2005 she took a short break of service, but returned to a cleaning role in the Computer Centre in 2006, before finally moving back to Senate House in 2010.

Ann was first taken ill in March 2012, and soon after this was given the devastating news that she had cancer. She put up a brave fight, but sadly, was told that her cancer was terminal in January 2013. Ann took ill health retirement in February 2013 and passed away peacefully on 19 July 2013.

Ann was a very private person but once you got to know her you could appreciate that she had a great sense of humour and was also a strong-willed and extremely brave lady. She was fiercely proud of her two sons, Jamie and Daniel, and of her Scottish heritage. Ann also loved music, with music of the ‘80’s being a particular favourite.

Ann will be greatly missed by many, including friends and colleagues here at the University of Bristol.
