Bristol to host future global leaders at 2018 Chevening Conference
Press release issued: 8 December 2017
The University of Bristol will host the fifth annual Chevening Conference in April 2018, welcoming future global leaders from around the world.
Chevening Scholarships are awarded by the UK Government to outstanding, emerging leaders in over 160 countries and territories, so they can undertake postgraduate study at a UK university.
Bristol currently has 18 Chevening Scholars who are studying Master’s degrees in subjects including International Relations, Public Policy and Gender and International Development.
The Chevening Conference will be held on Friday 6 April at various venues at the University of Bristol’s city campus. The theme for the conference is ‘Lead the Change’. Scholars from Bristol and institutions across the UK will have the opportunity to demonstrate to peers and academics how their research inspires leadership and change in an increasingly globalised and ever-changing world.
Dr Erik Lithander, the University of Bristol’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (International), said:
“The University of Bristol has a long history of hosting Chevening Scholars and it is a great honour to have been selected to host the fifth annual Chevening Conference.
“Having the opportunity to welcome so many exceptional people from around the world is very exciting for a global institution such as Bristol. Internationalisation and interdisciplinary collaboration are values that we share with Chevening. In an increasingly connected and complex world, fostering these values is key to helping the leaders of tomorrow find solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.”
Further details of the 2018 Chevening Conference, including registration information for current scholars, will be available soon.
