Organised by Bristol Museums, visitors will be able to join museum archaeologists and a whole host of local societies, re-enactors, field archaeologists and heritage organisations for a fun-packed day full of tours, demonstrations, displays and archaeological activities.
Staff and students from the University of Bristol will be showing material from a recent excavation of a Viking burial site at Repton in Derbyshire and visitors will also be able to see pottery from the University’s Mediterranean ceramic collection, including material that dates back to the 5thcentury BCE.
The team will also be doing a virtual reality display of an excavation, so that members of the public can see virtually what it is like on an archaeological dig.
