The University of Bristol has appointed a new Director of External Relations to support the delivery of its new strategy.
Alicia O’Grady, who has a wealth of experience in the Higher Education sector, will be responsible for enhancing and consolidating the University's profile with key audiences in the UK and overseas, including prospective students, staff and partners.

As Director of External Relations, Alicia will oversee all student recruitment and admissions activity, corporate marketing, brand management, public relations, government relations and all aspects of internationalisation.
She brings over 20 years of experience to the role, most recently as Executive Director, Marketing and Communications at the University of Tasmania, where the Marketing and Communications functions were brought together under her leadership to ensure effective global delivery of marketing and brand strategies. While at the University, Alicia led brand and digital transformation strategies which received national and international accolades.
Prior to that she was Deputy Director of the Office of Student Recruitment at Griffith University in South East Queensland, Australia, and also worked extensively in the financial sector.
Robin Geller, Registrar of the University of Bristol, said: "This is an exciting time for the University of Bristol as we implement our new strategy and prepare for future growth, including the creation of our new campus. Our ambition is to be globally renowned both for the quality of our teaching and learning environment, and for the excellence and breadth of our research and scholarship.
"Alicia's deep and broad experience of strategic marketing, corporate communications and stakeholder management will be invaluable to this mission, and I am very pleased to welcome her to Bristol."
Speaking about her appointment, Alicia said: "I am delighted to be joining the University of Bristol at this point in its history – the University has a fantastic reputation globally and an exceptional track record that underpins its new vision and strategy. I am looking forward to working with colleagues across the University, and the City of Bristol more broadly, to help bring that strategy to life."
