Jean, or as some will remember her with affection, ’Pixie‘, started working at Wills Hall as a Catering Assistant in September 1982. She was an integral part of the team who took pride in her job and worked well beyond her retirement age.

Jean’s early years were spent in the nursing profession, as a State Registered Nurse and Midwife working for some years in Australia, before returning to the UK. Owing to a change in circumstances, her life took a turn and she worked in a capacity few would relish, but she would never say an unkind word or complain about her job even when faced with a mountain of pots and pans to clean every day.

Those who knew her, I'm sure, will all miss her, a dear kind soul who could surprise you with her humour and wit. She worked tirelessly; she was a stalwart and a confidante.

Jean's funeral took place on Monday 26 March at Henbury Cemetery, followed by a short service at the Baptist Chapel, Lawrence Weston.
