Health and medical care
It is important that you register with a local GP practice in order to access NHS medical care during your time in Bristol. Please do this as soon as possible after you arrive, and do not wait until you fall ill.
Your registration pack will contain information about the Students’ Health Service, which is part of the NHS and offers a full GP service for all University of Bristol students and their dependants who live within the practice area.
You will need to complete and return two forms included in the pack in order to register with the Students' Health Service:
- Patient information card
- Form GMS1 (see guidance on completion of Form GMS1 PDF)
Your registration with the Service will be processed more quickly if you can also enter some basic information via the following secure links:
- For new students already resident in the UK
- For new students coming to live in the UK for the first time
If you prefer to register with another local medical practice, or do not live in the practice's catchment area, you can find your nearest doctor on the NHS website.
