What is Nightline?

"If you are worried, need help, or just want to talk to someone, call Nightline. It is completely confidential and well worth a phone call."
Dame Judi Dench
"Nightline's services are invaluable to students and I give them my wholehearted support."
Sir Michael Parkinson
Nightline is an anonymous service for students at the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England (UWE). We are here every term time night from 8pm till 8am with a compassionate ear to listen to any of your problems - no matter how big or small. We offer:
- confidential listening - a friendly person for you to talk to about any problems, no matter how big or small. We will not judge you. We treat all callers with empathy and respect; allowing them to safely and anonymously discuss whatever's on their mind.
- information - from pizza places through to AIDS charities, information on addictions and sexually transmitted diseases. If you want to know anything about what is going on in the Bristol area or you just can't find that student health number give us a call, we've got all the numbers you need.
No problem is too small to call
Some people think we are only here for what they think of as "major" or "serious" problems, but the reality is whatever is keeping you awake at 4am is a major issue for you. We get calls covering a vast range of issues: problems with coursework deadlines, concerns about their friends, people unsure about their sexuality, got a irritatingly squeaky door to their room or finding it difficult getting used to university life. As they say, it's good to talk!
Can't find a phone number?
We have information on just about every subject you can think of, from taxi numbers to the all important takeaway numbers. We also have information on other issues such as AIDS charities, drug awareness campaigns and gay and lesbian groups.
