Vic Finkelstein, a leading figure in the field of Disability Studies, died on 30 November 2011. His contribution was momentous, in helping to establish the right of disabled people to found their own movement and their own model of disability. He challenged academics, medical professionals and others, to think about disability in a new light. Staff at Norah Fry Research Centre would like to express their condolences, and to recognise the ongoing influence of Vic Finkelstein's work on Disability Studies, and the research and ideas with which we are currently engaged.
