Baiju Parthan (born 1956) is an Indian artist who works both in paint and in digital installation. Calling himself a "techno-shaman", his work is concerned with myth and magic, as well as with the philosophical implications of new technology. As well as painting, he has studied botany, comparative mythology and computer programming, and his work reflects these diverse interests.

Created in 2002, Diary of the Inner Cyborg is an interactive installation that simulates a chatroom session with a persona called Orpheus, a technologically generated simulacrum that may, the work suggests, one day displace the human self.
