Plan your day
Our open days offer you the perfect opportunity to find out all you need to know about the University of Bristol.
All open days will start at 9.30 am and run until 4 pm.
Please allow at least 15 minutes to transfer between activities in the main University campus, and at least 20 minutes to get to the open day exhibition. If you are visiting University halls, you should allow at least an hour and a half to get to Stoke Bishop by bus (the last bus leaves at 3 pm) or ten minutes to reach the city centre residences.
To get the most out of your day we advise you to plan your day in advance: our day planner (PDF, 75Kb) will help you do that.
1. Subject sessions
Throughout the day, the University's academic schools will host sessions on the subjects you can study at Bristol. Some will include information on the course content and entry requirements, while others will be taster lectures. You can book up to three subject sessions to work out which course is right for you. Places are limited and you must book in advance.
2. Subject displays
In addition to the subject sessions, we recommend that you visit the displays where you can talk to staff and pick up course leaflets. Access to visit all the subject displays is included in your main open day booking.
3. Welcome sessions
Our welcome sessions will provide you with an opportunity to find out more about the non-academic aspects of university life. These sessions must be booked in advance.
4. Exhibition
As part of the open day, you will have the chance to look around an exhibition which is a one-stop-shop, enabling you to pick up information about our courses, find out about our student support services, talk to staff about applying for a place at the University, and speak to our funding advisers and accommodation staff.
5. Tours
Sports Centre
The Centre for Sport Exercise and Health on Tyndall Avenue will be open throughout the day for visitors to look around. The information desk will be open between 9.30 am and 4 pm.
Walking tour
Follow our self-guided audio walking tour to find out about the University's history and get an idea of where our facilities are within the city.
Academic School tours
Some of our academic schools also run tours. These will be listed on our subject session page.
6. Veterinary Science open session - Saturday 1 June 2013
We will be holding an event specifically for those interested in the Veterinary Science course at our Clinical facilities at Langford, 14 miles south of Bristol. For up to date information, please visit the veterinary science open session web page.

If you need support in order to attend any of the activities on the open day, please let us know using the section at the bottom of the booking form. Disability Services require at least 4 weeks notice to assess and arrange provision where necessary.

Visiting accommodation
You can find out what living in halls is like by visiting some of our residences. A free shuttle bus service to the halls in Stoke Bishop will operate from Woodland Road and from the University's park and ride at Cribbs Causeway. Please allow an hour and a half to visit all of the residences and return to Woodland Road. The last bus will leave from Woodland Road at 3 pm. If you miss this, you can still speak to accommodation staff until 4 pm at the exhibition. You can also visit some of our city centre residences which you can walk to from the campus in around ten minutes.
