Open days are a great opportunity to bring a group of students to visit the University. If you plan to bring a group, please contact the Widening Participation and Undergraduate Recruitment Office +44 (0)117 928 8623 or email open-days@bristol.ac.uk by:

  • Friday 26 April 2013 for the June open day
  • Friday 5 July 2013 for the September open day

We will then send you a code which will allow us to keep track of your pupils' bookings

Pupils must make individual bookings using the online booking form.

Before the open day we will send details of which students have booked to attend and an information pack containing:

  • An information sheet for teachers and careers advisers;
  • A map for coach and minibus parking.

Preparing your students

To ensure your students get the most out of the day, encourage them to take the following steps beforehand:

  • Look at the University's website and undergraduate prospectus to make sure we offer a course that interests them
  • Look at our factsheets aimed to help with their university choices
  • Think about the university experience as a whole. What will it be like living in Bristol? Is it too far from, or too close to, home? Are they serious about applying to Bristol before they book onto an open day? What do they want to know about the city?
  • Plan their day - the programme, emailed to students when they book their place, will help them plan what they want to do while they are here, which sessions they want to attend or academic schools they want to visit, and anything else that would be useful to see or do during the day
  • Think of some questions in advance; your students will be able to talk to academics and current students
  • Find out what you need on the day.

Opportunities for teachers, lecturers and HE advisers

We will be running our first open day teachers and careers advisers conference on Thursday 27 June. The programme includes information on key issues relating to higher education and provides the opportunity to find out about admissions, our courses and the range of outreach opportunities that may be open to your school or college. The conference will run from 10 am - 1 pm, including lunch. If you would like to attend, while your students are exploring the open day, please book using the open day online booking form where you can also book academic or welcome sessions you may be interested in.

If you are attending the open day but can't attend the conference, you must still book your own place.

If you are unable to attend on 27 June, but can make one of the other open days then we will be running the 'Information for teachers and careers advisers' welcome session where you will be able to get some of the information available from the conference.

Academics, current students and admissions staff will be on hand throughout the day to answer queries and provide information about courses and how to support students through the application process.

Further outreach opportunities

The University is committed to working with schools and colleges throughout the UK to encourage young people to think about higher education.
