Art Lecture Series 2012: Art of the Book
Art Lecture Series 2011: Art and Sport
The Autumn Art Lectures are a series of six public lectures which explore a specific theme related to the visual arts. The first set of lectures, on the theme of architecture, took place in 1905 and was inspired by the late George Hare Leonard, Professor of Modern History at the University. They were such a success that Senate established an Art Lectures Committee whose role was to lead on the organisation of the annual series. The Committee still exists today and, like the founding Committee, is made up of University academics and external members with passion for, and expertise in, the visual arts.
Recent lecture series have included The Creative Brain, Colour and Art and Sport.
The forthcoming Autumn Art Lectures will discuss Art and Travel and will run from six weeks from Tuesday 22 October 2013, in the Great Hall, Wills Memorial Building at 6 pm.
The audio recordings of the recent series, The Art of the Book, from Autumn 2012 are now available.
