Modelling human disease in Zebrafish

Thursday 21 November 2013

The symposium will be held between 9 am and 4.30 pm at The Watershed, 1 Canon’s Road, Harbourside, Bristol, BS1 5TX.

Derek StempleA public lecture following the symposium entitled 'What can Zebrafish teach us about human disease?' will be held at 6 pm and given by Dr Derek Stemple in the Wills Memorial Building, Queen's Road, Bristol.

Derek will introduce Zebrafish and its remarkable genetic relationship to humans; he'll discuss several examples of what his lab and other labs have learned trying to model human genetic diseases by taking advantage of their unique combination of genetic tractability and translucency making them amenable for live imaging.  Finally, he will explore how these approaches can be applied to learn about yet unknown causes of human diseases.

Booking is required for the public lecture via the online booking form.
