About the project

The Penguin Archive Project is a four-year, AHRC-funded project to develop research in key areas of the Penguin Archive, which contains the archives of Penguin Books Ltd. from its foundation in 1935 to the 1980s, with continuing deposits up to the present day. The current areas of research are modern poetry, Penguin Classics and Penguin Specials. Read more about the project.


The Penguin Archive Project finished in 2013. This website is no longer being actively maintained, but its contents is preserved publicly, in accordance with our funding arrangements.
