Michelle joined the department in 2008 from the University of California, Irvine. Michelle’s current focus is on intentionality, and in particular on the following questions: What exactly are the objects of intentional mental phenomena? What notion of content is adequate to capture the kind of content involved in all such phenomena—thought, perceptual experience, emotional experience, desire and so on? She also has interests in the metaphysics of objects, the connection between emotions and value, and theories of punishment.
