My research interests are in the theory of electronic structure of solids, with particular emphasis on theories of superconductors and systems with strong electron correlation. This especially includes high temperature superconductors and other unconventional superconductors possessing d-wave or p-wave pairing symmetry. Currents project invovles the study of spin triplet Cooper pairs generated at the interface between an s-wave superconductor and a conical magent, and the study of singlet-triplet mixing in non-centrosymemtric superconducting materials.
I am head of the Theoretical Physics Group in the University of Bristol. I am also president of the Bristol Local Association of UCU, the University and College Union. Outside the university I am former chair of the Collaborative Computational Project CCP9 for the study of the electronic properties of condensed matter systems. I am also former chair of the committee of the South-West UK branch of the Institute of Physics.
