Active for Life Year 5 is a cluster randomised control trial of a complex primary school based intervention to increase levels of physical activity, decrease sedentary behaviour and improve diet.

The current version of the protocol can be found by following the Publications link.

The Active for Life Year 5 intervention consists of 16 lessons, 10 homeworks, and school newsletter inserts. It is delivered to schools during Year 5, and is taught in normal lesson time, by the school teacher. The programme is adapted from the ‘Eat Well and Keep Moving ’ Programme designed and developed by researchers from Havard University. It has been adapted by local teachers to make it suitable for use in the UK.

The ‘Active for Life Year 5’ programme has been through several phases of piloting. Publications from the pilot studies can be viewed here.
