Programme overview

The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise saw the Bristol Department of Finance and Accounting rated fourth in its Unit of Assessment. The result is a true reflection of the high research quality within the Department. Research in the Department spans a number of areas, primarily in finance, management accounting and public sector accounting.

Research groups

The main research themes reflect the interests of staff members. The particular strengths of the Department lie in applied financial econometrics (Evarist Stoja), auditing (Yingfa Lu), empirical finance (Daniella Acker, George Bulkley, Sylvain Friederich, Paula Hill, Piotr Korczak, Neslihan Ozkan), financial reporting (Mike Jones), management accounting (Stephen Lyne), and public sector accounting (Sheila Ellwood).

Further details of the current research and supervision interests of individual members of staff are available from the Department of Accounting and Finance website.
