Professor Michael Basker, Dean, Faculty of Arts

Overview

The Faculty offers postgraduates expert academic advice and excellent resources across a wide range of critical and creative fields. Our students also have the benefit of a dedicated Graduate School, providing professional support, financial aid and study facilities tailor-made for their particular needs.

Bristol provides Arts postgraduates with exceptional academic and professional training. We offer more than thirty MA programmes designed to deepen your subject knowledge and extend your research, technical and professional skills. From 2014/15, with our partner organisations, including the BBC, English Heritage, and the National Trust, you will have the chance to develop your skills through work experience with Arts professionals. Unique research collections, such as the Beerbohm Tree Theatre Collection, the Brunel papers and the Allen Lane Penguin Archive provide unrivalled opportunities to develop ground-breaking projects. Dedicated centres and institutes give researchers at all levels the chance to exchange ideas with leaders in their disciplines from across the academic world. A wide network of partners in the cultural, heritage and media sectors enable our researchers to shape their research in dialogue with the wider Arts community.
