Library and IT support

Library facilities

The University's library and computing services are designed to support you as much as possible during your studies. There are 10 branch libraries, situated in or near the relevant faculty or school. They offer access to thousands of electronic books, journals and databases, and they house over 1.4 million volumes of printed books and journals. The libraries also have rich holdings of rare books, manuscripts and artefacts, with special archives devoted to - among other topics - theatre and performance history, geology, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Penguin Books. If you need a place to study, the libraries provide more than 2,500 reading places and group study areas to cater for individual and collaborative work.

Several branch libraries have recently undergone major refurbishment and now boast improved facilities and redesigned space to enable individual study, group problem-solving activities, presentation work and resource sharing. Developments include self-service facilities, additional power sockets for laptop use, designated spaces for eating and drinking, more use of natural light and comfortable furnishings.

You can find out more about the library and the range of services it offers on the Library website.
