This Pre-Masters programme explores the communication and comprehension of academic subjects in English across a range of disciplines at Masters level and beyond, equipping you for the increasingly interdisciplinary world of the 21st century. We will help you to improve your knowledge and use of academic English grammar and vocabulary, and to develop an awareness of the expectations of study at Masters level.
You will improve your general academic skills of taking notes from lectures, dealing with long reading texts and a heavy reading load, taking an active part in academic discussions and giving presentations. You will also build an e-portfolio of general academic essays and more subject-specific types of writing.
You will leave the programme fully equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that you need to succeed at a top British university, and the confidence to communicate your ideas with professors, peers or the public.
Normally an upper second class honours degree (or international equivalent).

You may join the course at the start of Term One in September or at the start of Term Two in January, depending on your IELTS score. All students complete the following units:
