Programme overview

This exciting and challenging programme builds on more than 35 years of experience in film and television production. It was the very first of its kind at a British university and offers a broad, practical foundation in professional screen-based production, supported by a strong critical and contextual framework. The programme is aimed at anyone with a solid educational background and a passion to succeed in the art and craft of screen production.

The programme has an international reputation in this field and enjoys close support, both from staff with a vast range of accumulated experience and from leading industry professionals. Productions from the programme are routinely exhibited internationally.

Practical work is intensive and group-based, consisting of fiction and documentary production. While you may concentrate on certain roles during the dissertation production period (which usually includes producing a short film for public viewing), the programme is essentially non-specialist and aims to provide a broad foundation in film and television production to support a professional career.

Many of our alumni go on to a distinguished career in the creative industries on successful completion of the programme.
