Interviews at the University of Bristol

Interviews are used by admissions tutors to assess your suitability for a course. They also give you an opportunity to find out whether your chosen course is the right one for you. Interviews are usually carried out for courses in Dentistry, Engineering Design, Medicine, Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science, and Veterinary Science as careers in these areas require a high degree of 'people skills'.

Interviews are not usually held for other courses at the University of Bristol. However, you may be invited to interview if your application needs further clarification, for example, in cases where applicants have non-traditional qualifications or have been out of mainstream education for some time.

An interview usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Interviewers are genuinely interested in you and your application and do not intend to catch you out or make you feel nervous. Among other things, they will ask you about your reasons for wanting to study that particular subject and ensure you are aware of what the course involves and what the career options are. They will also assess your ability to communicate.
