This exciting course combines both professional and academic content, providing a unique opportunity to gain a sound scientific knowledge base, as well as a first-class veterinary nurse education. You will study subjects such as anatomy, physiology, infection and immunity, and cellular and molecular pathology, along with veterinary nursing related subjects giving you a broad educational basis which can be applied across a number of career options The degree leads to direct entry to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Register of Veterinary Nurses.
Please note that it is not possible to transfer from the Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science programme onto the Veterinary Science programme, although the degree could lead to graduate entry.
This degree is delivered within both the main Bristol campus and the veterinary school at Langford, providing a diverse learning and social environment. Clinical nurse training is provided by veterinary nurses and surgeons, many of whom are experts in their chosen field. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work within a broad range of clinical environments, including first opinion and referral practices, which will enable you to gain practical experience of veterinary nursing.
The Bristol Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science degree is unique in that you are able to undertake part of your clinical experience within the veterinary school. This guarantees access to a modern referral environment that focuses on teaching both veterinary nurses and veterinary surgeons. The University has invested in the construction of a new £7-million, state-of-the-art surgical complex.

Extensive science and research components ensure that you are equipped with essential knowledge and skills enabling high employability within the veterinary and related professions. Graduates are likely to be employed in general veterinary practice. Opportunities will also be available in specialist veterinary referral hospitals, veterinary schools and within the business sector. Graduates who have gained a 2:1 degree or higher may also be able to undertake further studies leading to progression to a postgraduate qualification.

When I finish this degree I will be entered on to the RCVS register of Veterinary Nurses. This will allow me to practice in the UK and abroad as a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
