Keeping you healthy

The London 2012 Olympics was a great reason to celebrate sport and to kickstart a healthy leftstyle. Our vision is for all students to enjoy an environment that promotes a proactive approach to sport, health and wellbeing, giving everyone the opportunity to be active, whatever your sport and at whatever level you want to participate.

Healthy lifestyles

We offer a variety of activities, including exercise classes, 'healthy halls' activities for students living in university residences, dance taster sessions, cookery courses and health checks.

    Sports development

Sports development at the University of Bristol focuses on introducing, or reintroducing, students to sport and encouraging participation. We also focus on the transition from beginner to elite performance. Our main areas of work are participation programmes; club, coach and volunteer development; leadership and community sport development.

    Sports clubs

There are over 50 sports clubs offering you a wide range of opportunities to play at a level to match your skill and level of commitment. If you’re looking to compete at the highest level, you can represent the University at the British Universities and Colleges Sport championships.

    Encouraging sporting excellence

If you have a unique talent, a record of success and serious sporting aspirations, you can apply to join our High Performance Squad. You will receive professional help with fitness, nutrition, mental preparation, physiotherapy and other sports medicine support.

The University offers a number of sports scholarships to High Performance Squad members. You must apply for sports scholarships before arriving at the University.

From football to ultimate frisbee, there is a sport for everyone. I’m a member of the High Performance Squad for my achievements in kickboxing. The squad provides opportunities for funding, nutrition information and physiotherapy, and helps members to excel in their sporting fields, while achieving academic success.
