Teaching

Welcome to the Psychiatry teaching webpage. Psychiatry is a medical discipline that tries to alleviate the suffering associated with mental illness; it is based on knowledge of the mind, brain and body, and as such when practised well, is truly holistic. Our aim is to ensure that you have a good grounding in this field, which will serve you well whatever medical discipline you ultimately practice in. We also want to inspire those of you who are interested, to consider a career in psychiatry and interest those who are inspired to think deeply!  This video is a short introduction to the course.

The Academic Unit of Psychiatry has a strong commitment to teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates. We are responsible for the psychiatry element of the MB BS programme in the University and have research students studying full-time and part-time for PhDs and MDs.
