Engaging with the public about our research and teaching is an integral and exciting part of academic life at Bristol. It ensures our work has impact and relevance beyond the University's walls and that society's values and opinions inform our research.
Public engagement describes the many ways our staff and students interact with the public, from collaborative research to cultural celebrations, citizen experiments to blogs. In these ways we share our work, creating two–way conversations between the University and society at large.
The Centre for Public Engagement supports and promotes public engagement activity across the University.
Public Engagement Stories captures the range of ongoing activities at the University.
Events for the public, linked to our research, can be found on the University events calendar and in a downloadable publication, the What’s On guide.
Separate from, but linked to, the University’s Centre for Public Engagement is the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement. Based at Watershed Media Centre on Bristol’s Harbourside, this is a national initiative to embed public engagement across the higher education sector. It is jointly hosted by the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.
