Created by Euroscience, ESOF – Euroscience Open Forum – is the biennial pan-European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation. At ESOF meetings leading scientists, researchers, young researchers, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators, policy makers, science and technology communicators and the general public from all over the world discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research is taking in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.
Research Excellence Framework (REF) Summary available from HEFCE

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the new system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions (HEIs). It will replace the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). The REF will be undertaken by the four UK higher education funding bodies, to: * inform the selective allocation of research funding to HEIs * provide benchmarking information and establish reputational yardsticks * provide accountability for public investment in research and demonstrate its benefits.
