We have recently launched new sessions for our Lunchtime Careers Seminars, and they will follow a new format this year based on previous participants' feedback.
We will be running a total of four sessions this year. Two of these sessions will be talks from specialists in the Careers Service covering the two most requested themes.
The other two sessions will include short informal talks by 3-4 guests who have made the transition into jobs outside of academia. The focus will be on how they generated ideas for jobs, how they went about finding and applying for jobs, the important skills that they developed during their research and how these transferred into a non-academic environment, plus any other tips that they may have on how to sell yourself outside academia. These sessions will involve small groups to allow you the opportunity to hear from guests and ask direct questions related to your circumstances. All groups will have the opportunity to hear from each guest.
As the speakers are confirmed this page will be updated. Spaces are limited so you are advised to sign-up. Sign-up will be via the Careers Service Website once speakers are confirmed.
You can also find details of previous careers seminars held in 2009, 2010 and 2012 including the presentations and audio recordings, where available (UoB access only).
Please note: The first time you log in to the Careers Service website you will need to complete a short registration form before you will be able to access and sign up to any events.
